Installation of the AED- Defibrillator

The Bunya Mountains Village is approximately 1 hour away from the Queensland towns of Kingaroy, Dalby and Nanango and approximately 1.5 hours away from the City of Toowoomba, so in times of medical emergencies, it may take some time for an ambulance to arrive.

The Bunya Mountains Community Association Inc (BMCAI) determined that it the availability of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)  might save a life if such a medical emergency arose.  BMCAI worked collaboratively with Kingaroy Rotary to have an AED supplied.  Kingaroy Rotary, with the assistance of a local business, Anderson's Carpets Kingaroy, raised the funds to purchase the AED.  In June 2019, BMCAI members installed the AED at the Shop in the Village.  BMCAI members now provide monthly maintenance checks to ensure that they are always ready for use should an emergency arise.

A general practitioner and member of BMCAI provided AED familiarisation/training sessions in October 2019 to ensure local residents and Shop and restaurant staff were confident in using the AED should an emergency arise.
